Green Building Practices

Montgomery & Rust has been employing Green Building practices for over a decade. The techniques we have been using all contribute to increased comfort and lower utility bills, all while using resources wisely. Some examples of our Green Practices are listed below:

  • Indoor air quality is improved and energy efficiency is enhanced in our homes through the sealing of the duct work as well as the building envelope. Both measures prevent air leakage and increase comfort and efficiency.

  • Low flow faucets are standard in our specifications, which improve water efficiency. These faucets save water while performing similarly to regular faucets.

  • We install energy efficient furnaces and appliances which reduce utility bills. Our furnaces are a minimum of 92% efficient and our appliances are ENERGY STAR rated.

  • The materials used on the exterior of our homes reduce the maintenance requirements. Brick and HardiPlank┬« siding are longer-lived materials, which reduce repair costs over the life of the structure.

  • We also use framing techniques as well as prefabricated floor and roof trusses to maximize the efficiency of material usage.

  • Our foundations are either sealed with the Tuff-N-Dri system or are a pre-fabricated concrete wall system, both of which ensure that basements are dry and highly insulated. This protects the basement and increases the comfort level of the house.
