1660 Murray Avenue
Located on a prominent corner in Squirrel Hill where residential and commercial
zones intersect, this 27-unit condominium blends easily into of one of
Pittsburgh’s vibrant urban neighborhoods. Creative zoning solutions,
community involvement, and exceptional design have contributed to the
successful development of this property, which for years had eluded attempts
at improvement. Montgomery & Rust served as the contractor for the
interior finishes.
The Brake House
The Brake House consists of 18 Lofts in a renovated manufacturing building
in Pittsburgh's Strip District. This project was done in partnership with
NoWall Production.
Fairhill Farms
The Fairhill Farms development consists of five mini estates of approximately
five acres each. It is located in Franklin Park Borough.
Fairview Farms
Fairview Farms is a small development in O'Hara Twp. consisting of a group
of 12 single family detached homes.
The Village at Washington’s Landing
Washington’s Landing, a former industrial island located in the
Allegheny River just minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh, was another site
that was acquired and developed by The Urban Redevelopment Authority of
Pittsburgh. It is a mixed-use community featuring 88 homes, six office
buildings, a marina and rowing center, tennis courts, and a park. Montgomery
& Rust together with its partner, The Rubinoff Company, won the assignment
to design, build, and market the residential component of the island.
The result was an award winning residential community that has been recognized
with the Builder’s Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh’s
Building Excellence awards in 1997 and 2000. The community has been featured
on the cover of the National Association of Home Builders Smart Growth
publication in 1999 and in an article in Builder magazine in 1998 as well
as numerous other publications.
Montgomery & Rust handled the detail design and building for all of
the homes. The community, now complete, represents a very visible example
of the Company’s ability to create outstanding homes with varied
floor plans and amenities within a community of superb architectural integrity.
The Village of Shadyside
Completed in 1999, The Village of Shadyside was one of Montgomery &
Rust’s first collaborations with the URA. The Company built a community
consisting of 84 town homes, 44 mid-rise condominiums and one detached
home located in the eastern end of Shadyside. The community was designed to blend with the surrounding
design of the adjacent Shadyside neighborhood.
The Trillium
The Trillium is a gated high scale residential development in Fox Chapel.
It consists of elegantly designed attached and detached homes. The homes
were built during the late '80's and early '90's. Owners selected from
a team of design architects who collaborated on a common design theme.
The end result is project of strong cohesiveness despite a rich variety
of architectural expression.
The Fairways of Oakmont
The Fairways of Oakmont consists of Flats, Townhouses and Single Family
detached homes near the famous Oakmont Country Club. The project was begun
by another developer and completed by Montgomery & Rust.
Perry Point
Perry Point is a community perched atop the Perry Hilltop neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
Before the Company's work here, the 100+ year old "rowhouses" had been vacant
for several years. It is a townhouse community composed of renovated brick
rowhouses, and new frame and siding townhouses. Perry Point, formerly
known as Clifton Park, was produced by a team consisting of the URA, Montgomery
& Rust, and Perfido Weiskopf Architects. The project started in 1980
and was completed three years later.
Castle Town Square South
Castle Town Square South is an office building built by Montgomery &
Rust and is where the Company maintains its offices. It is located on
Route 8 (William Flynn Highway) in Allison Park, Pennsylvania.
The Village of Bradford Woods
Completed in the early eighties, The Village of Bradford Woods was, at
the time, a cutting edge development that combined 50 detached homes with
80 townhomes on a 50 acre site that also included walking trails, three
ponds, and a substantial area of natural wooded parkland. The Company’s
predecessor firm, Cole, Montgomery & Rust, developed the site and
designed and built all of the town homes and most of the detached homes.
The Company created a community with a unifying architectural theme while
simultaneously building a wide variety of homes with different floor plans
and amenities.
Hartswood Farms
Hartswood Farms was the first development built by Montgomery & Rust.
Located in Allison Park, PA, the development consisted of single family
detached homes in a wooded suburban area. Most of the homes exhibit a
strong traditional influence with Classical New England proportions and
styles. The extensive use of materials such as cedar siding and handsplit
cedar shingles, were innovative in the mid 1970's in the Pittsburgh area,
when these homes were built.
